Mutual Aid – Redistribution of local food resources to those generally left out of local food movements.

Co-Education – Provide pathways for collaborative, community-based education on the local food movement (e.g. sustainable agriculture includes sustainability of land, water, labor) to the ABQ community.

Circular Economy – Be an localized economic generator for project partners, including farmers, producers, community partners, and community members . When more money stays in communities, the communities become more resourceful and resilient.

What if I don't understand some of the language around the goals of the Resilience Box?

Keep reading below for some helpful definitions!

What is “Redistribution”?

“Resources” exist within community spaces in many forms. The giving of money, time, knowledge, cultural practices, land-based stewardships, creativity, skills, and re-using existing things are all examples of community-scale resources that are power-building for that community. Therefore, redistribution is the concept that in order to create more equity in our communities, those that have access to more resources share those resources with those that have access to less. This resource sharing strengthens community ties, encourages sharing of knowledges, perpetuates community care, and elevates collective resources over governmental care structures.

What is “Co-Education”?

Co-Education is an ethic that decentralizes traditional power hierarchies of learning, away from formalized knowledge structures (aka academia), and elevates lived-experiences, cultural knowledges, and community-based knowledges.

What are “Circular Economies”?

A circular economy is a looped system, where money stays in the community in which it is spent, as opposed to being sent elsewhere or to large companies, based outside of the community.
